Disclaimer/information

AIMS obtains various kinds of data, including weather information, from monitoring stations deployed at a number of marine locations. These locations are all subject to harsh environmental conditions that can from time to time disrupt the continuous supply of reliable information. The data presented on this site may sometimes be of variable quality because of conditions at the data collection sites or disruptions to the communications technology that delivers the data to AIMS. An automated colour coding system is in use to indicate quality:

  • Light Green (Flag 1) = good data
  • Dark Green (Flag 2) = probably good data
  • Orange (Flag 3) = probably bad data
  • Red (Flag 4) = bad data

Greyed-out entries indicate that the quality of the data could not be determined at this time. Data may receive a black coding because of atmospheric conditions, extremities of weather, intermittent HF interference or a variety of other factors. Note that this automated system may occasionally apply a green code to data that is actually unreliable, owing to fouling and sensor drift over time. These issues are addressed by AIMS whenever resources permit.

Users of this data are advised that while AIMS makes every effort to ensure accuracy, no guarantee can be given that they do not contain errors. Please see full disclaimer here.

All data displayed on the AIMS Weather Station web site comes directly from the Weather Station sensors therefore this data is raw and has had no quality control process applied to it. The sensors can occasionally record a bad data point. Between services there are also occasional breakages of equipment due to bird strikes, storms etc.
