Role
Technical Officer - Benthic Ecologist, Sustainable Coastal Ecosystems and Industry in Tropical Australia Team
Background
I completed my Bachelor of Science at James Cook University in 2005, after which I worked with the University as a research assistant on a broad range of projects conducting field work on the GBR and in Papua New Guinea. Following this I spent two years with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service as a marine park ranger in the Townsville and Cardwell regions. Immediately prior to my commencement with AIMS I was managing vessels and research facilities at the Orpheus Island Research Station.
Education

2005: BSc, Marine Biology/Zoology, James Cook University, QLD, Australia.

Current Research Activities
I am currently a member of the Marine Monitoring Program and my role is focused on monitoring benthic communities and establishing links between water quality and changes in coral reef communities on inshore reefs. Specifically my present focus is on 1) identifying causative agents driving the persistence of macroalgae and potential phase shifts and 2) the use of stable Nitrogen Isotope ratios in macroalgal tissue for identifying potential sources of anthropogenic inputs on inshore reefs.
